don’t think it happens all at once.
I don’t think women wake up one morning and decide that everyone else’s needs are more important than their own.
I think it happens gradually.
A little here.
A little there.
One responsibility becomes another. One commitment becomes ten. We take care of our families, our work, our homes, and the people we love. We become so focused on carrying everything that we stop paying attention to ourselves.
I know because I was one of those women.
For many years, I focused on taking care of everyone around me. I raised children, pursued an education, built businesses, and carried responsibilities that often felt endless. Like many women, I believed that being strong meant continuing to move forward no matter how tired I became.
Somewhere along the way, I stopped making space for myself.
Not because I didn’t matter.
But because everyone else seemed to need me more.
What I have learned over the years is that wellbeing is not only about exercise, nutrition, or getting enough sleep.
It is also about creating space.
Space to think.
Space to breathe.
Space to reconnect with yourself.
Recently, I spent thirty uninterrupted minutes focused on one task. No distractions. No multitasking. No rushing from one responsibility to the next.
For those thirty minutes, I experienced something many of us rarely allow ourselves to experience anymore.
Presence.
I felt focused, calm, and fully engaged in what I was doing.
It reminded me how often we move through life reacting instead of living.
Many of us begin each day with good intentions. We want to exercise, learn something new, work on a dream, spend time with the people we love, or simply take better care of ourselves.
Yet sometimes we struggle to get started.
Not because we are lazy.
Not because we lack discipline.
But because we have become overwhelmed by the constant demands placed upon us.
I have learned that part of wellbeing is creating the conditions that allow us to focus and be present.
Sometimes that means a walk.
Sometimes it means prayer.
Sometimes it means movement.
Sometimes it means giving ourselves thirty uninterrupted minutes to simply think, create, learn, or grow.
Throughout every season of my life, I have found strength in my faith. I have learned to let go of things that steal my peace. I have learned that forgiveness creates freedom. I have learned that rebuilding is possible, even when life does not go according to plan.
Most importantly, I have learned that caring for myself is not selfish.
It is necessary.
Today, when I think about the women La Rouge Gymwear serves, I think about the woman who is carrying everything.
The woman who is always taking care of everyone else.
The woman who has forgotten her own needs while meeting the needs of others.
If that woman is reading this, I want her to remember something.
You do not have to earn rest.
You do not have to earn peace.
You do not have to earn your worth.
You matter because you exist.
And while caring for others is one of the most beautiful things we can do, do not forget to care for yourself along the way.
Because the woman who carries it all deserves support too.
And because you matter too.
